Afghan Minister of Refugees Meets with Iranian and Pakistani Ambassadors in Kabul
Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, Afghanistan’s Minister of Refugees and Returnees, held separate meetings with Alireza Bigdeli, Iran’s Ambassador, and Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani, Pakistan’s Ambassador in Kabul, emphasizing the need for humane treatment of Afghan migrants and regional cooperation.

Weezha Roz-Kabul-Mawlawi Abdul Kabir referred to Iran and Pakistan as “friendly and Muslim neighboring countries” and thanked them for hosting millions of Afghans over the years.
He urged adherence to international principles regarding refugees and called for humane and Islamic treatment of Afghans.
The minister highlighted the increasing mistreatment of Afghans in Iran and Pakistan, stating:
“We ask host countries to abide by global refugee principles and treat Afghans with humanity and Islamic values.”
Abdul Kabir reiterated the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to regional stability, economic cooperation, and creating shared opportunities, stressing that Afghanistan intends no harm to any nation.
He advocated for voluntary and gradual repatriation of migrants, warning that forced deportations by the end of June are impractical, as migrants cannot gather their assets in such a short time.
Proposed solutions included bilateral and trilateral meetings with host countries.
The minister called for an end to destructive actions at border crossings and resolving disputes through dialogue.
He noted that closed borders have harmed thousands of travelers, patients, deceased individuals, and commercial goods, requiring urgent action.
Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani pledged to relay the Islamic Emirate’s requests to Pakistani authorities, stating:
“Pakistan does not want to use Afghan migrants as political tools and prefers resolving issues through mutual understanding.”
Alireza Bigdeli emphasized Iran’s cooperation with legal refugees, saying:
“Given Iran and Afghanistan’s strong ties, both countries must collaborate to address migrant issues.
Undocumented refugees should be provided necessary legal documents.”
He praised the Islamic Emirate’s efforts to combat human trafficking as a step toward stronger cooperation.
The meetings concluded with agreements to separate migration issues from political disputes and implement practical measures to resolve the crisis.
The Islamic Emirate and neighboring nations committed to developing sustainable solutions for migrant management through joint efforts.
