Zalmay Khalilzad: Iran Must Shift Its Stance and Resume Nuclear Talks

Washington-Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. diplomat and special envoy for Afghanistan reconciliation, has issued a stark warning amid growing tensions between Iran and Israel, and the potential for direct U.S. military involvement.

Weezharoz-n a tweet, Khalilzad stated: “If the United States joins the war directly, Iran’s prospects will deteriorate dramatically.”

He urged the Iranian leadership to reconsider its position and set a date for resuming nuclear negotiations with Washington.

This warning comes as military confrontations between Iran and Israel escalate, raising fears of a broader regional conflict with global repercussions.

Analysts say Khalilzad’s remarks reflect a view in Washington that, despite rising tensions, a diplomatic solution remains possible yet time is running out.

His message is seen by some as a veiled invitation for Tehran to de-escalate and return to the negotiating table.

Iranian officials have not officially responded, but observers suggest the statement may be part of a wider effort to prevent further destabilization in the Middle East.
