Weezha Roz<\/span>-Kabul<\/strong>-The 400-bed Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan Hospital, one of the largest healthcare facilities under the Ministry of National Defense of Afghanistan, has expanded its operations as a symbol of self-reliance in the country\u2019s health system.<\/p>\n

This hospital, built with a cost of 2 billion Afghanis, equipped with standard medical facilities, now serves as a center for surgery, internal medicine, ear, nose, and throat treatments, as well as the treatment of infectious diseases.<\/p>\n

Previously known as one of NATO’s (NKC) bases in Kabul, the facility has now been transformed into a center providing services in various medical fields, including open-heart surgery, endoscopy, and laser treatments.<\/p>\n

The hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic and medical devices, including surgery equipment and diagnostic technology.<\/p>\n

In addition to general surgery and cardiac care, new sections have been established, such as a 100-bed cancer hospital, a 200-bed maternity ward, and a health sciences training center.<\/p>\n

With the recruitment of both local and foreign specialists, the capacity of the hospital’s medical staff has increased, and training programs for military surgeons are being conducted.<\/p>\n

Fasiheddin Fetrat, the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Defense, highlighted during the opening ceremony of the center: “The sections of this hospital have been opened in the former NATO center.<\/p>\n

Today, all matters of the country are in the hands of Afghans, and no foreign force has any role. Afghanistan is not in a post-Islamic Emirate era, and media disputes are merely a plot by the enemies.<\/p>\n

We will suppress any element against national security.”<\/p>\n

Mawlasvi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the Acting Minister of National Defense, also stated: “The former NATO base (NKC), which was once used for bombing, has now become a health center.<\/p>\n

We urge Afghan specialists residing abroad to return to the country and participate in advancing the health system.<\/p>\n

We are ready to engage with the world, provided that Afghanistan’s national interests and sovereignty are respected.”<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Defense aims to reduce dependence on foreign countries by achieving self-sufficiency in healthcare.<\/p>\n

It is anticipated that with the completion of similar projects, the country will save 500 million dollars annually on healthcare expenditures.<\/p>\n

Officials emphasize that military hospitals like this one not only provide medical services but also serve as symbols of sustainable security in Afghanistan following the withdrawal of foreign forces.<\/p>\n

Some citizens have welcomed the transformation of military bases into health centers but have called for financial transparency and assurance of service quality.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, there have been concerns raised about limited civilian access to some parts of the hospital.<\/p>\n
