Warm Dialogue Between Tehran and Tokyo: Strengthening Long-standing Relations and Agreement on Nuclear Diplomacy

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and his Japanese counterpart, Takeo Iwaya, held a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments, and international issues. This discussion focused on strengthening the historical cooperation between the two countries and utilizing diplomatic tools to resolve challenges.

Weezha Roz-Tehran-The Japanese Foreign Minister, acknowledging the arrival of Nowruz (the Persian New Year), congratulated Iran.

Araghchi, in response, thanked him for the gesture and emphasized the importance of reinforcing the long-standing and friendly relations between Tehran and Tokyo, calling for continued cooperation in economic, cultural, and political fields.

The two sides discussed critical challenges, including developments in the Middle East, international security, and Iran’s peaceful nuclear programs.

Araghchi reaffirmed “Iran’s right to peacefully use nuclear energy” in accordance with international law and highlighted the role of diplomacy in resolving key disputes.

Both parties stressed the necessity of continuing regular consultations to strengthen mutual trust and stabilize peace in the region.

Plans for upcoming meetings between senior diplomats from both countries were also put on the agenda.

The emphasis was placed on the historical relations between Iran and Japan as a foundation for future cooperation, with diplomacy being considered the primary tool to manage disputes, especially regarding the nuclear issue.

Both sides agreed on strengthening dialogue mechanisms between senior officials from the two countries.

This conversation reflects the two countries’ commitment to maintaining communication channels, even in the face of complex international conditions.

The United Nations welcomed any steps toward de-escalating tensions.
