Trump and Putin’s Heated Call Ahead of Ceasefire, Ukraine Under the Shadow of Peace

On Tuesday, March 21, U.S. President Donald Trump made controversial remarks, revealing the possibility of a direct conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin later this week. This announcement comes alongside a new wave of diplomatic efforts surrounding the Ukraine crisis.

Weezha Roz-Kabul-Previously, during recent negotiations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Ukrainian officials expressed their support for the U.S. proposal to establish a one-month ceasefire in the ongoing war with Russia.

This plan, which aims to reduce tensions and create a space for peace negotiations, has sparked varied reactions at the international level.

Trump further stated that he would welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the White House.

This comes despite the fact that the last meeting between the leaders of the two countries, held on March 10, ended with heightened tensions. Trump claimed that he received a letter from Zelensky, in which the Ukrainian president expressed his readiness to “cooperate under Trump’s strong leadership to achieve peace.”

Moscow’s response to these developments has also been notable. Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on Trump’s statements, saying, “Moscow does not completely rule out establishing contact with the American side in the coming days.”

This position signals a significant shift in the Kremlin’s diplomatic tone after months of tensions.
