Special Session on Implementing the Emir’s Decree to Combat Misguided Customs
Kabul – A focused meeting was held on Sunday to discuss the effective implementation of the newly approved decree from the Emir of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, aimed at curbing improper customs in family ceremonies, weddings, mourning events, and pilgrimages. The session was chaired by Mawlawi Neda Mohammad Nadeem, the Acting Minister of Higher Education, and took place at the ministry’s meeting hall.

Weezharoz-The session was attended by key officials including Ziaul Rahman Ayoubi, the Deputy Minister for Academic Affairs, heads of central departments, and representatives from educational institutions.
The primary objective of the meeting was to explore effective methods for nationwide dissemination, education, and implementation of the new decree, as well as the role of educational institutions in institutionalizing its directives.
In his opening remarks, the Acting Minister emphasized: “All decrees of the Emir not only align with Islamic Sharia law but are also designed for the welfare and prosperity of the society.”
He further stated that improper customs in family and social events have imposed heavy financial and cultural burdens on the people.
The implementation of this decree is expected to reduce such burdens significantly.
The Minister also stressed the responsibility of educational institutions in raising awareness among employees, students, and the general public, calling for widespread cooperation to ensure the success of the decree.
Participants at the meeting presented practical suggestions and agreed on the following steps:
1. Develop a practical framework for implementing the decree at universities and educational centers.
2. Train employees and professors as ambassadors for societal awareness.
3. Utilize media platforms and social networks to spread educational content.
4. Establish a central monitoring committee to track the decree’s implementation and submit regular reports.
This session was seen as a crucial step towards transforming the Emir’s decree into actionable plans, which, through the collaboration of educational institutions and public awareness efforts, will address the cultural and economic challenges arising from the prevalence of misguided customs.
