Signing of the Contract for Five Lead and Zinc Mines in Bamiyan Province

Weezha Roz-Mullah Hidayatullah Badri, Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, signed the contract for five lead and zinc mines in the Yakawlang district of Bamiyan province with Afghan-German, Al-Haramain, Gamma Eagle, Kandahar Khogiani, and Musa Sultan companies.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Mines, the mines cover a total area of 3,863,786 square kilometers with an overall investment of 1,797,059,500 Afghanis. The contracts with the mentioned companies have been signed.
The statement mentions that the contracts for the five mines are for a period of five years, conditional on the companies adhering to the principles, procedures, and commitments outlined in the mining regulations. After the completion of the initial term, the contracts may be extended for a second period.
According to the Acting Minister of Mines, the processing of these minerals will be done 100% within the country, and if any company fails to comply with the terms of the contract, it will be terminated.
He further stated that the implementation of these projects will create both direct and indirect job opportunities for hundreds of Afghans. Additionally, the Islamic Emirate’s share of the mines is 51%.
The statement also adds that the lead and zinc block in the Sargushtak area, contracted with the Musa Sultan Mining and Processing Company, will result in the construction of a 50-kilometer road in the Urozgan province.
The mining area in Pami Karkak, contracted with Afghan-German Bakhtar Company, will result in the construction of a 60-kilometer bypass road in Kandahar and the construction of a dam in Arghistan district, Kandahar.
The mining area in Sarsar Khak, contracted with Gamma Eagle Mining Company, will lead to the construction of a railway line of approximately 47.3 kilometers as part of the second and fourth segments of the Khawf-Herat railway, along with the construction of a well-equipped teaching hospital at the university in Maidan Wardak province.
