Severe Rain, Snowfall, and Flood Warning for 29 Provinces of Afghanistan

Weezha Roz-Kabul-The National Disaster Management Authority of Afghanistan, based on the forecast by the Civil Aviation Meteorological Department, has issued a warning of heavy rainfall, snowfall, and flash floods across 29 provinces of the country from 30th Dalwa to 1st Hoot 1403 (2025).
This warning includes sensitive areas such as the Salang region, which is historically prone to road blockages due to heavy snowfall.
The affected provinces are as follows:
North and North-East: Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunar, Nuristan, Panjshir, Kapisa, Baghlan.
Central and East:Kabul, Parwan, Logar, Wardak, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Laghman.
West and South-West:Herat, Farah, Badghis, Ghor, Samangan, Sar-e Pol, Faryab.
South and South-East:Kandahar, Zabul, Urozgan, Helmand, Paktia, Paktika.
Central Regions:Bamyan, Daikundi.
Predicted conditions:
Rainfall:Between 5 to 30 millimeters.
Snowfall:Between 5 to 25 millimeters in higher elevations.
Wind and Dust Storms: Winds at speeds of 50 to 80 kilometers per hour in central and southern regions, accompanied by dust storms.
The Ministry of Disaster Management has urged the following precautions:
Avoid unnecessary travel in mountainous areas like Salang and flood-prone regions.
Strengthen weak structures and move livestock to safer areas.
Store water and food supplies for at least 72 hours.
Coordinate with provincial disaster committees for the latest updates.
This year, similar floods in provinces such as Kunar and Paktika have caused widespread damage, displacing thousands of families, destroying homes, and resulting in casualties.
Impact: Damage to agricultural lands and reduced crop yields, especially in the southern regions.
Road blockages and limited access to remote areas.
The United Nations has identified Afghanistan as the sixth most vulnerable country to climate change and has called for an immediate allocation of $14.5 million to assist flood victims.
