Secret Meetings or Open Diplomacy: Pakistan’s Special Envoy’s Visit to Kabul for Talks with Afghan Officials

Weezha Roz-Islamabad-According to anonymous sources in the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sadiq Khan is scheduled to meet with senior officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, including Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Zabihullah Mujahid, the official spokesman of the Islamic Emirate.

The discussions are expected to focus on issues such as border security, concerns related to Afghan refugees in Pakistan, and the revival of regional economic projects such as the “Qatar Peace Agreement” railway corridor.

Pakistani sources emphasized that Islamabad seeks the cooperation of the Islamic Emirate in addressing the active terrorist groups along the border, particularly the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Political analysts on television programs pointed out that this visit could be a sign of Pakistan’s willingness to unofficially recognize the Afghan government, although Islamabad has not officially confirmed this yet.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has neither confirmed nor rejected the visit of Pakistan’s special envoy.

Pakistan faces security challenges due to the presence of terrorist groups along its borders.
