Second Direct Kabul–Urumqi Flight Launched: A Significant Step in Strengthening Afghanistan–China Economic Relations
KABUL–Ariana Afghan Airlines has commenced its second weekly direct flight between Kabul and Urumqi, China, marking a pivotal advancement in the economic and commercial ties between the two nations. This initiative aims to bolster bilateral trade and enhance regional connectivity.
Weezharoz-A ceremonial event was held at the Kabul Grand Hotel to commemorate this development, attended by prominent figures including Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum; Mawlawi Ahmad Jan Bilal, Director General of State-Owned Enterprises; Dr. Mohammad Naeem Wardak, Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Zhao Xing, Chinese Ambassador to Kabul; Qari Abdul Wali Siddiqi, CEO of Ariana Afghan Airlines; Noor Ahmad Agha, Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank; along with other government officials, investors, and media representatives.
Mawlawi Ahmad Jan Bilal highlighted that the initiation of the second direct flight to Urumqi signifies progress in Afghanistan–China trade relations.
He reiterated the commitment of the State-Owned Enterprises Directorate to the development of all affiliated companies, including Ariana Afghan Airlines.
Ambassador Zhao Xing emphasized China’s dedication to expanding trade relations with Afghanistan, noting that increased flight frequency will play a crucial role in fostering closer ties between the peoples and businesses of both countries.
Qari Abdul Wali Siddiqi stated that Ariana Afghan Airlines is actively working to modernize its administrative and operational systems to provide enhanced services to passengers.
Established in 1955, Ariana Afghan Airlines has been instrumental in facilitating passenger and cargo transport, as well as postal services.
The launch of the second direct Kabul–Urumqi flight underscores Afghanistan’s commitment to deepening economic engagement with China and strengthening regional cooperation.
