Russia Formally Recognizes the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in a Landmark Move
Kabul – Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan, Dmitry Zhirnov, officially conveyed his government’s decision to recognize the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan during a meeting with Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
Weezharoz – According to the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zhirnov called the decision a historic step toward strengthening bilateral relations between Moscow and Kabul.
In response, Minister Muttaqi welcomed Russia’s “realistic and courageous” move, describing it as the beginning of a new phase of positive engagement, mutual respect, and constructive diplomacy between the two nations.
He further noted that this recognition marks a significant moment in the history of Afghan-Russian relations and sets a valuable precedent for other countries to consider similar steps.
Minister Muttaqi also expressed hope that the recognition would lead to the expansion of cooperation across various sectors, including politics, trade, and regional affairs.
