President Murmu’s Praise for Punjab: The Birthplace of Exceptional Figures and Pioneers in India’s Agricultural Development
President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attended a civic reception ceremony held in her honor by the government of Punjab in the city of Mohali. The event, which was warmly welcomed by local officials and citizens, saw the President emphasize Punjab's irreplaceable role in shaping India's history and progress.
Weezha Roz-Kabul-In her speech, Murmu stated, “The land of Punjab is the birthplace of distinguished personalities who have played a decisive role in the advancement of the country and the world in areas such as social reforms, education, science and technology, industry, sports, politics, and public service.”
She further added, “This state has not only strengthened national unity but, with its spirit of hard work and innovation, has revolutionized India’s agricultural self-sufficiency as the agricultural hub of the country.”
The President, referring to Punjab’s leadership in India’s Green Revolution, highlighted, “Punjabi farmers, with their dedication and reliance on advanced knowledge, brought India to the peak of food security.”
She noted that today, the state can still inspire sustainable transformation in the agricultural sector by harnessing modern technologies.
Murmu also urged the youth of Punjab to preserve the region’s rich cultural heritage while embracing new knowledge, thereby playing their part in building the India of tomorrow.
The event was accompanied by cultural performances and displays of Punjab’s agricultural achievements, receiving a warm reception from the audience.
