Powerful Russian Showcase at IQDEX 2025 with Unveiling of Kornet-EM Anti-Tank System
Baghdad-At the IQDEX 2025 international defense exhibition held in Baghdad, Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport unveiled the Kornet-EM, a cutting-edge anti-tank guided missile system developed by High-Precision Systems, a subsidiary of Russia’s defense industry.
Weezharoz-The unveiling drew significant attention from Iraqi military and security officials, particularly the Special Operations Command, who showed keen interest in the advanced system.
Key Features of Kornet-EM:Armor Penetration:Capable of penetrating up to 1300 mm of reactive armor.
Range: Effective engagement distance of up to 10 kilometers.
Guidance System:Equipped with laser-beam riding technology that is resistant to electronic warfare.
Target Tracking:Features an automatic target tracker, allowing the operator to engage two separate targets simultaneously.
Variants:Vehicle-mounted version, designed for armored platforms like the Typhoon-K MRAP.
Man-portable version for infantry units.
During a site visit to the Russian booth, the commander of Iraq’s Special Operations Forces received a technical briefing and personally inspected the Kornet-EM system, expressing interest in potential procurement.
Rosoboronexport experts provided detailed demonstrations and operational insights, emphasizing the system’s effectiveness in modern asymmetric warfare.
The presentation of the Kornet-EM at IQDEX reflects Russia’s strategic focus on expanding its defense footprint in the Middle East, where demand for advanced anti-armor systems is on the rise.
Analysts suggest that given regional militaries’ growing need for reliable and high-precision weaponry, the Kornet-EM may emerge as a serious contender for upcoming defense acquisitions in Iraq and beyond.
