Operation “Spider Web”: Ukraine Destroys Over 40 Russian Strategic Bombers

Kabul-In a bold and unprecedented move, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) launched a covert operation named "Spider Web" on Sunday, June 1, 2025, destroying more than 40 Russian military aircraft, including strategic Tu-95 and Tu-22M bombers, as well as A-50 reconnaissance planes, across four deep-inland Russian air bases.

Weezharoz-The operation, meticulously planned over 18 months, involved smuggling FPV drones into Russian territory and concealing them in trucks with remote-controlled retractable roofs.

At the designated moment, the roofs were opened and the drones launched directly at high-value military targets.

According to Ukrainian military sources, the targeted air bases were Belaya (Irkutsk), Dyagilevo (Ryazan), Ivanovo, and Olenya (Murmansk) some located over 4,000 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.

The mission, reportedly overseen by President Volodymyr Zelensky and SBU chief Vasyl Maliuk, has inflicted estimated damages exceeding $2 billion on the Russian Air Force.

Simultaneously, explosions were reported on key rail bridges in Kursk and Bryansk, disrupting Russian logistics and infrastructure.

This high-impact strike comes just ahead of proposed peace talks in Istanbul, where Ukraine is expected to demand a full ceasefire, prisoner exchanges, and the return of abducted Ukrainian children.

Operation “Spider Web” not only challenged Russia’s military capabilities but also highlighted Ukraine’s evolving warfare tactics and its use of advanced technology to strike deep behind enemy lines.
