New Housing Township for Returnees Inaugurated in Kandahar: A Key Step Toward Dignified Resettlement
Kandahar- A new residential township for returnees was officially inaugurated in Daman district of Kandahar province by a high-level delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The project was launched under the leadership of Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative and Financial Affairs, in collaboration with Sheikh Hamdullah Nomani, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Housing.

Weezharoz-Officials stated that the township spans a total area of 1,510 jeribs of state-owned land and includes 1,140 housing plots.
These plots have been divided into three categories 5, 10, and 15 biswas based on population and need.
In his remarks, Sheikh Hamdullah Nomani said, “This distribution aims to provide suitable living conditions for returnees, enabling them to live with peace, dignity, and security in their new homes.”
He added that one of the core policies of the Islamic Emirate is to assist returnees and homeless citizens, and this township serves as a living example of that commitment.
Local authorities in Kandahar emphasized that the project not only addresses urgent housing needs for returnees but also contributes significantly to urban development, social order, and infrastructure services in the Daman area.
This township is expected to play a vital role in enabling dignified returns, reducing homelessness, and strengthening social stability in southern Afghanistan.
