Washington – A Syrian source has told i24NEWS that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa are set to meet at the White House in September, ahead of the United Nations General Assembly.
Weezharoz-According to the report, the two leaders are expected to sign a U.S.-brokered security agreement, described as a potential first step toward peace and normalization of relations.
Gulf sources say the United Arab Emirates, with backing from Saudi Arabia, has been actively mediating the negotiations.
However, a key obstacle remains Israel’s refusal to commit to a withdrawal from the Golan Heights.
Tel Aviv argues that President Al-Sharaa still lacks full control over armed groups in southern Syria, leaving security guarantees in doubt.
Analysts view the possible meeting as a potential turning point in decades of hostile relations between Damascus and Tel Aviv.
