Ministry of Economy Responds to SIGAR Report

Weezha Roz-A recent report from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) highlights that the United States has spent 3.71 billion on Afghanistan over the past three years.

However, the report notes that these expenditures have not had a significant impact on the country’s economic situation.

In response to the SIGAR report, the Ministry of Economy stated that the funds were given to international organizations, not directly to the Afghan government.

The Ministry further explained that a large portion of this money was spent by the organizations themselves, while the remainder was allocated as humanitarian aid to various sectors.

The Ministry of Economy also pointed out that, in addition to financial and economic sanctions, the United States has blocked more than9 billion in Afghanistan’s foreign reserves, which belong to the people of Afghanistan.

This has also negatively affected the national economy.

Any actions by the U.S. regarding the allocation, use, or transfer of these reserves are unacceptable, according to the Ministry.

The Ministry also urges the international community and other countries to ensure that these financial resources are made accessible to the Central Bank of Afghanistan.

The Ministry emphasizes that these funds should be used to maintain monetary stability, strengthen the financial system, facilitate trade with the world, and support the economic stability of the country.
