Minister of Public Health Meets with WHO Representative in Kabul

Weezha Roz-Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, the Minister of Public Health of Afghanistan, yesterday held a meeting in his office with the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative for Afghanistan, Mr.

Ewodine Siniza Slauder, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting focused on supporting and equipping a 200-bed cancer treatment hospital in Kabul.

During the meeting, both sides discussed improving the hospital’s services, enhancing diagnostic departments, providing medical equipment, capacity building for healthcare staff, and continuing WHO support.

The Minister of Public Health described the equipping of the 200-bed cancer treatment hospital in central Kabul as a significant step toward improving healthcare services in the country and expressed gratitude for WHO’s support in this regard.

He emphasized that this project will play a key role in improving access to advanced treatment services for cancer patients.

On the other hand, the WHO Representative for Afghanistan, Mr. Ewodine Siniza Slauder, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in the construction and equipping of the hospital and assured that WHO would continue its technical and financial support for the project.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expedite the process of equipping and operationalizing the hospital.

Once completed, the 200-bed cancer treatment hospital in Kabul will serve as one of the region’s key medical centers, providing specialized services to cancer patients.
