Meeting of the UN Special Representative with Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce

Weezha Roz-Nooruddin Azizi, the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan, met with Ms. Rosa Otunbayeva, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce states that during this meeting, discussions were held regarding the development of industrial parks in Afghanistan, the establishment of an entrepreneurship center, the creation of an online trade center, support for the private sector, addressing the electricity issues of industrial parks, and the priorities of Afghanistan’s private sector.

Ms. Otunbayeva provided information on the private sector working group in the Doha 3 meeting and praised the efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

She also described the success of the recent investment conference held by the ministry as successful and suggested that similar programs be held in five regions of Afghanistan.

This meeting reflects the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation for economic development and supporting the private sector in Afghanistan.
