Joint Iranian-Afghan Oversight of Repatriation Process Amid Afghan Migrants’ Complaints of Mistreatment

Kabul – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul has announced that senior officials from both Iran and Afghanistan jointly monitored the repatriation process of Afghan migrants at the Dogharoon-Islam Qala border crossing.

weezharoz-According to the statement, the governor of Khorasan Razavi and the governor of Herat, along with administrative, security, and border officials, participated in this visit.

The purpose was to assess the conditions and services provided to Afghan returnees.

This joint oversight comes as numerous Afghan migrants recently returned from Iran have voiced strong complaints about unfair and abusive treatment by Iranian forces.

Several returnees have alleged that their personal belongings, legal documents, and cash were either confiscated or disappeared during detention or deportation procedures.

Migrant rights activists in Kabul have called for greater transparency in the repatriation process and urged both sides to ensure humane and lawful treatment of returnees.

This inspection takes place amid a noticeable increase in forced deportations of Afghan migrants from Iran in recent days, raising deep concern among civil society and humanitarian organizations inside Afghanistan.
