Italy Formally Delivers Amphibious Vessel LPD “Al-Fulk” to Qatari Navy

Muggiano – As part of a key maritime modernization program, the Italian shipbuilding company based in Muggiano has officially delivered the advanced amphibious vessel LPD Al-Fulk to Qatar’s Ministry of Defense. The ship was designed and constructed to enhance the operational capabilities and modernization of the Qatari Navy.

Weezharoz-The handover ceremony took place in the presence of Major General Abdullah bin Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Commander of the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces, and Admiral Andrea Gueglio, Director of Military Personnel of the Italian Navy.

The event was also hosted by Pieroberto Folgiero, CEO of the shipbuilding company, and Dario Deste, General Manager of the Military Ships Division.

The Al-Fulk vessel features a large flight deck compatible with NH90 helicopters, a spacious garage with dual ramps for vehicle transport, and a floodable well deck designed for landing craft operations.

The ship was built according to international RINAMIL standards.

These features equip Al-Fulk for a wide range of missions, including humanitarian operations, defense support, and amphibious landing missions.

The Italian company noted that Al-Fulk, with its cutting-edge technologies and advanced design, represents a major step forward in maritime security and is well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of future naval missions.
