Iran’s Missile Strike on U.S. Air Base in Qatar Draws Regional and International Reaction

Doha – In an unprecedented development, the Islamic Republic of Iran launched several missiles targeting Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East.

weezharoz-In an official statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack, announcing that the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted the missiles and that no casualties or damage were reported.

The ministry’s spokesperson emphasized: “We reserve the right to respond directly to this blatant act of aggression in accordance with international law.”

Meanwhile, Iranian sources told U.S. media that Tehran had issued a warning to Doha prior to the attack, allowing time for evacuation and minimizing potential casualties.

Following the strike, Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, and Iraq closed their airspace, while Russia’s civil aviation authority suspended its airlines’ flights over Qatar.

According to The New York Times, citing a Pentagon statement, and Reuters, quoting two U.S. officials, the attack caused no casualties or material damage.

The strike reportedly occurred as former President Donald Trump and his national security team were holding an emergency meeting in the Situation Room to review the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Analysts view Iran’s move as part of its retaliation to recent U.S. military actions, warning of escalating tensions in the Gulf region.
