Iranian President Emphasizes Boosting Economic and Banking Cooperation with Oman
Muscat, Oman-Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, in a joint meeting with Iranian and Omani business leaders this morning, underscored the importance of enhancing bilateral trade, banking, and transit ties. The meeting followed high-level talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq as part of his official visit to Oman.
weezharoz-Highlighting the deep-rooted and cordial relations between the two nations, President Pezeshkian stated, “Our ties are built on shared cultural and religious values, which can serve as a foundation for broader economic and political cooperation.”
He stressed the need for robust land, sea, and air infrastructure to support bilateral collaboration, and identified the integration of the two countries’ banking systems as a key step in facilitating trade.
Pezeshkian noted that the presence of Iran’s Central Bank Governor in the delegation and constructive meetings with Omani officials would help pave the way for smoother financial transactions.
He projected that bilateral trade could reach 20 to30 billion, emphasizing that achieving this goal requires mutual strategic decision-making and a shared vision for cooperation.
The president also highlighted the strategic roles of Iran and Oman in connecting regional markets, suggesting the two countries could link with Africa, Russia, Central Asia, and Europe to leverage their geopolitical potential for trans-regional trade.
He proposed that bilateral cooperation be extended to sectors such as culture, science, technology, and security, urging relevant ministries to engage in serious dialogue to turn these ideas into tangible partnerships.
Warning against the actions of colonial powers, Pezeshkian said, “They fuel wars and sell weapons to plunder the resources of Muslim nations. We must remain vigilant and pursue peace and cooperation.”
He concluded with hope that the agreements made during this visit would soon yield concrete results for both nations.
