Iranian Naval Activity in Persian Gulf Sparks Fears of Potential Oil Route Blockade

Persian Gulf- U.S. military sources have reported that armed Iranian gunship boats have entered Gulf waters, raising concerns of a potential naval blockade amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington.

Weezharoz-The Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world’s crude oil supply passes, remains one of the most strategic maritime chokepoints globally.

Any disruption in this route could trigger severe volatility in global energy markets.

According to U.S. officials, Iranian vessels are patrolling unusually close to international shipping lanes.

The U.S. military has described the activity as “unprecedented since the 2019 crisis” and has placed its naval bases in the region on high alert.

Political analysts suggest Iran’s actions may be a “tactical and deterrent response” to recent U.S. airstrikes targeting its nuclear infrastructure.

Iranian officials have yet to comment, but sources close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claim that the naval presence is part of “legitimate defense measures” and aims to ensure regional maritime security.
