India Returns to the Table of Global Powers as Modi Receives G7 Invitation

New Delhi – In a diplomatic turnaround, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed receiving a last-minute invitation from Canada to attend the upcoming G7 summit, signaling a shift in Ottawa’s stance toward New Delhi.

WeezaRoz– While India is not a formal member of the G7  a bloc of the world’s richest economies including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, and Japan  it has been a regular invitee in recent years.

This marks India’s 12th participation and Modi’s sixth consecutive presence at the summit.

Earlier reports had suggested Canada initially decided to exclude Modi, raising concerns about India’s global standing.

However, the decision was later reversed, reflecting changing geopolitical calculations.

Experts view the move as part of broader shifts triggered by global trade tensions and realignment efforts amid US-China rivalry.

India’s strategic importance appears to be drawing increased interest from key global powers.

The invitation is seen as recognition of India’s rising geopolitical influence and the growing Western competition for influence in Asia.
