Inauguration of Phase One of Helmand Refugee Township by Deputy PM
Helmand-Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Administrative Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, officially inaugurated the first phase of a major refugee township in Washer district, Helmand province. The ceremony was attended by Acting Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, Deputy Governor of Helmand Mawlawi Mohammad Nabi Hamas, local officials, religious scholars, national traders, and residents.

weezharoz-In his address, Hanafi stated, “Millions of Afghans migrated not for material benefits, but to defend their religion, homeland, and national honor.
Now, with the victory of the Islamic Emirate, it is the duty of the authorities to provide necessary facilities for their return.”
He added that the Commission for Refugee Affairs, along with six specialized committees, is actively working in areas such as permanent housing, employment, and social reintegration.
Efforts to provide shelter continue
Hanafi announced that phase one of the township is being developed on 5,000 jeribs of land and includes 3 grand mosques, 18 small mosques, 5 hospitals, markets, and other essential facilities.
The entire township spans 10,000 jeribs in the deserts around Shorab in Washer district.
He described the initiative as a significant step toward supporting returnees and resolving their fundamental issues, emphasizing the continuation of similar projects in other provinces.
