High-Level Pakistani Delegation Visits Kabul to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

KABUL-In a significant diplomatic engagement, a high-level Pakistani delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in Kabul on Saturday.

Weezharoz-The delegation was received at the Presidential Palace by Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in political, economic, trade, and cultural sectors.

A key topic of discussion was the forced repatriation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan, which has been a point of contention between the two nations.

Since April 1, over 80,000 Afghans have returned to Afghanistan following the expiration of a voluntary return deadline set by Pakistan.

The visit marks the first high-level interaction between the two countries since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021.

It comes amid efforts to address mutual concerns, including border security and the activities of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which Pakistan alleges operates from Afghan territory.

Further discussions are scheduled between Deputy Prime Minister Dar and Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

The talks aim to explore strategies for strengthening bilateral relations and resolving issues related to Afghan migrants.

Both nations have expressed a commitment to regional cooperation and peaceful resolution of shared challenges, signaling a potential thaw in relations that have been strained in recent years.
