Herat Money Exchange Union Provides Financial Aid Amid Mass Deportation of Afghan Migrants from Iran

Herat – In response to the unprecedented and widespread deportation of Afghan migrants by the Islamic Republic of Iran in recent weeks, the Herat Money Exchange Union announced on Saturday that it has raised USD 50,000 to support returnees.

Weezharoz – The funds will be used to facilitate the transportation of Afghan citizens from the Islam Qala border crossing to their respective home cities across the country.

In addition to the financial aid, the union also distributed hundreds of bottles of drinking water to recently deported migrants to help meet their immediate needs.

This initiative comes amid mounting concerns over Iran’s increasingly harsh and repressive treatment of Afghan migrants, which has triggered a wave of humanitarian anxiety within Afghanistan.

Thousands of migrants have been expelled from Iran in recent weeks, often without any preparation or support.

Analysts warn that the lack of coordination for the reception and resettlement of these returnees could escalate into a humanitarian crisis at border regions.

However, grassroots efforts like the Herat union’s contribution are seen as a hopeful step toward alleviating the suffering of this vulnerable population.
