Kabul-The fourth extraordinary session of Afghanistan’s High Standard Council was held on Saturday, 31 Jawza, under the chairmanship of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, at the Marble Palace in Kabul.

Weezharoz-The session was convened in accordance with the directive of Amir al-Mu’minin Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada, who instructed: “The National Standards Authority and the Committee for Prevention of Low-Quality Fuel Imports must jointly draft and submit new norms for imported fuel within ten working days.”
Highlighting the importance of this directive, Mullah Baradar stated that the Islamic Emirate is taking effective steps to prevent the import of substandard petroleum products in order to ensure economic stability and protect public health.
“Implementing standards will improve domestic market quality and build consumer trust,” he said.
He emphasized that adherence to standards and quality are fundamental to achieving economic self-reliance and stability.
Standardization, he noted, is vital for ensuring product quality, boosting exports, safeguarding consumer rights, and enabling access to global markets.
Mullah Baradar instructed the Standards Implementation Committee to effectively enforce the approved standards and testing methods.
The private sector was also urged to strictly adhere to these standards in both production and importation, and to share performance reports with the Deputy PM’s office.
The session approved six new standards and 51 testing methods related to diesel, petrol, liquefied gas, and stabilized condensate seen as a significant step toward enhancing the quality of fuel imports into Afghanistan.
