Former Generals: U.S. Military Equipment “Belongs to the Nation”; Call for the Return of Defectors and Repatriation of Weapons from Neighbors

A significant meeting was held in Kabul with the participation of former generals and senior officers of the previous Afghan government to discuss the fate of military equipment left behind by U.S.-led international forces.

Weezha Roz-Kabul-At this conference, General Shaur Gul Khan, a prominent commander during Ashraf Ghani’s regime, strongly opposed the U.S. demand to reclaim the military equipment, stating:”It is shameful that after its defeat in Afghanistan, the U.S. now claims ownership of this equipment.

These are the public assets of the Afghan people and do not belong to any government!”

He addressed Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, saying:”The Islamic Emirate seeks good relations with its neighbors, but the equipment that the previous government transferred to these countries must be returned to the current Afghan government.”

He urged former officers stationed in Iran, Turkey, and other countries to return to Afghanistan, emphasizing:
“Your lives, property, and positions will be protected by the current government. No group of exiles has the right to represent the Afghan military community!”

Shaur Gul referred to two generals (Khoshhal Sadaat and Sami Sadaat) and stated: “They were never professional soldiers! How can they represent the educated and experienced Afghan officer community?”

Reflecting on the history of Afghanistan’s military equipment, he said:”Before the U.S. presence, Afghanistan had tanks, military jets, and exceptional airplanes, which were looted under deceptive names like ‘Diagh’ and ‘D.D.R.'”

Shaur Gul emphasized that the remaining equipment in Afghanistan is the result of the blood and resources of the Afghan people over the past four decades, and any foreign claim to reclaim it is invalid.

This meeting took place while the Islamic Emirate is working to gain the loyalty of part of the former military community.

Analysts say that reclaiming equipment from northern neighbors will be a major test for the Islamic Emirate’s diplomacy.
