End of 1403 and the Start of 1404 Solar Hijri Year: Ministry of Labor’s Explanation on Calendar Implementation
Samiullah Ebrahimi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Afghanistan, provided important details regarding the end of the 1403 Solar Hijri year and the upcoming changes in the calendar.

Weezha Roz-Kabul-Ebrahimi explained that, according to the calculations of the Solar Hijri calendar, every four years an additional day is added to the regular year, and the year 1403 will end as a leap year with 366 days.
The last month of this year (Hoot) will have 30 days, meaning that the upcoming Friday (the last day of the current year) will coincide with the 1st of Farvardin, 1404.
According to the spokesperson, the first of Farvardin 1404 Solar Hijri corresponds to March 21, 2025, in the Gregorian calendar.
This calendar adjustment is essential to avoid time discrepancies in national and international scheduling.
This change means that all governmental, financial, and educational institutions are required to align their programs with the new calendar.
Contract dates, events, and legal commitments must be updated based on the year 1404.
