Efforts to Mend Ties: Muttaqi and Sadiq Meet Amidst Migrant Crisis

Kabul– Amid rising tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held a key meeting with Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan. The meeting took place under the framework of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), focusing primarily on the forced expulsion of Afghan migrants from Pakistan.

Weezharoz– During the talks, Minister Muttaqi expressed deep concern over the mistreatment and forced deportation of Afghan refugees, warning that such actions could seriously damage bilateral relations.

He stressed the need for both nations to resolve issues through dialogue and in a spirit of mutual trust.

In response, Mohammad Sadiq acknowledged Afghanistan’s concerns and pledged to raise the issues with relevant Pakistani authorities.

He also announced that Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, is scheduled to visit Kabul soon—a trip he hoped would lead to positive outcomes for both sides.

Both parties concluded the meeting by emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue and strengthened cooperation in future engagements.
