Dollar Transfer from Afghanistan to Outside Considered a Crime

Weezha Roz-The Office of the Prime Minister has recently issued a decree regarding the use of Afghan currency and the prevention of currency, gold, and precious stones smuggling.
In Decree No. (4088, dated 26/07/1446 AH), it is stated that all traders, money exchangers, and those transferring precious stones, as well as all Afghans, are instructed not to transfer money abroad beyond the allowed limit.
This decree from the Office of the Prime Minister serves as a clear warning that anyone who transfers more dollars than the specified amount will be considered a violator.
The decree specifies the amount of money allowed for transfer by land and air as follows:
1. All citizens are required to use Afghan currency for transactions.
2. No one may carry more than five thousand (5,000) dollars through airports and more than five hundred (500) dollars by land (borders and frontiers).
– For amounts exceeding one million dollars, the punishment is one year of imprisonment.
– For amounts less than one million dollars, the punishment is one month of imprisonment for every hundred thousand dollars, and for amounts up to the limit specified in the second clause, the sentence is ten days in prison.
4. The money and gold seized from offenders will be kept in the Central Bank of Afghanistan as per the discretion of the Office of the Prime Minister.
5. Bringing foreign currencies and currencies from neighboring countries into Afghanistan is prohibited.
6. The responsibility for preventing the smuggling of currency, gold, precious stones, and historical artifacts out of the country lies with the General Directorate of Intelligence, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Defense.
This decision comes after the recent rise in the value of the dollar against the Afghan currency.
