Canada Imposes Sanctions on IRGC-Linked Weapons Suppliers Over Human Rights Abuses and Regional Destabilization
Global Affairs Canada announced on Friday, March 8, the imposition of sanctions against three individuals and four entities tied to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for their involvement in weapons procurement networks. The sanctions target actors accused of facilitating gross human rights violations against Iranian civilians and engaging in destabilizing activities across the Middle East and globally.

Weezha Roz-Kabul-In a statement, the Canadian government condemned the sanctioned individuals and entities for undermining international peace, security, and stability in alignment with the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The measures align with Canada’s broader strategy to hold the IRGC and its affiliates accountable for human rights abuses and regional aggression.
The statement emphasized These sanctions send a clear message Canada will not tolerate those who enable violence against innocent civilians or fuel instability in the Middle East and beyond.
The targeted network is alleged to have supplied weapons and logistical support to IRGC operations linked to the suppression of internal protests in Iran and proxy conflicts abroad.
The sanctions freeze any Canadian assets held by the designated individuals and entities and prohibit financial transactions with them.
This action follows heightened international scrutiny of the IRGC’s extraterritorial activities and its role in arming paramilitary groups.
Canada has repeatedly pledged to counter the Iranian regime’s malign influence through coordinated sanctions with allies such as the U.S. and the European Union.
The IRGC, designated by Canada as a terrorist entity since 2012, remains a focal point of Western sanctions due to its suppression of domestic dissent and support for regional proxies.
The latest measures reflect Ottawa’s escalating efforts to disrupt Tehran’s military and financial networks amid stalled nuclear negotiations.
