Bilateral Meeting Between Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Delegation and Iranian Vice President Held in Russia
Kabul-On the sidelines of the 11th Nevsky International Environmental Congress in the Russian Federation, a delegation from the National Environmental Protection Agency of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, led by Mawlawi Matiul Haq Khalis, held a bilateral meeting with Ms. Shina Ansari, Vice President and Head of Iran’s Department of Environment.

Weezharoz-During the meeting, the Afghan side highlighted the importance of participating in regional environmental forums and called for greater regional cooperation to address shared environmental challenges.
Mr. Khalis emphasized the need for joint planning and regional collaboration, citing mutual environmental issues affecting both countries.
He also requested Iran’s support in organizing technical meetings related to chemical conventions, particularly given Iran’s role as host of the regional secretariat for these conventions.
Ms. Shina Ansari welcomed Afghanistan’s proactive approach and underscored the necessity of regional collaboration to tackle environmental crises.
She also expressed Iran’s readiness for active engagement in technical areas, including international conventions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in environmental protection and strengthening engagement within regional and international frameworks.
