Ambassador of Afghanistan Meets with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China

Weezha Roz-Kabul– Mawlawi Bilal Karimi, the Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to China, met with Maoming, the Deputy Director-General of the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, in Beijing.

The two sides discussed strengthening political, economic, commercial, transit, and consular relations between the two countries and emphasized the development of comprehensive cooperation.

The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the meeting, held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and China, saw Maoming referring to the history of peaceful coexistence between the two countries.

He stated: “China and Afghanistan are committed to strengthening the spirit of good-neighborliness and expanding cooperation in various fields.”

He added, “This convergence is not only in the interest of the people of both countries but is also important for regional and international stability.”

On the other hand, Mawlawi Bilal Karimi, Afghanistan’s Ambassador, emphasized Afghanistan’s recent security achievements and described the nationwide security and stability in his country as “a historic opportunity.”

He said: “This lasting stability provides a foundation for mutual progress and benefits for all parties.”

He also announced Afghanistan’s readiness to develop relations with China in the fields of transit, trade, and economy.

Background:
Diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and China over the past seven decades have been largely based on economic and security cooperation.

In recent years, China has played an active role in supporting infrastructure projects in Afghanistan and has stressed the importance of maintaining stability in the country.

This meeting is part of ongoing discussions between the two countries’ officials aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and leveraging new opportunities for cooperation.
