Alexey Dedov Warns Against Excluding Russia and China from Negotiations, Stating Such an Approach Would Lead to the Failure of Any Potential Agreement

Weezha Roz-Alexey Dedov, the Russian Ambassador to Tehran, in an interview partially published by the state-run news agency IRNA, outlined the conditions for the success of any potential agreement between the United States and Iran.

He emphasized that the presence of Russia and China in nuclear negotiations with Iran is a key factor in achieving any lasting and fruitful agreement.

Dedov, referring to Western efforts to exclude Russia and China from the negotiation process, warned that such an approach would lead to the failure of any potential agreement.

He stated, “Without Moscow and Beijing, these negotiations will never achieve their goals and will not be fruitful. We support maintaining the format of 1+5 on one side and Iran on the other.”

The Russian Ambassador to Tehran also stressed the importance of preserving the current structure of the negotiations, noting that this framework, which includes the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (the U.S., Russia, China, the UK, and France) plus Germany, is the best way to ensure the success of the talks and the achievement of a comprehensive and lasting agreement.

Dedov further added that Russia, as a strategic partner of Iran, has always defended Tehran’s rights and interests on the international stage and is ready to play a constructive role within the framework of nuclear negotiations.

He noted that any attempt to exclude Russia and China from this process would not benefit any of the parties involved and could lead to an escalation of tensions in the region and beyond.

In conclusion, the Russian Ambassador to Tehran called on the international community to focus on finding practical and constructive solutions to resolve existing disputes, rather than attempting to alter the structure of the negotiations.

He emphasized that only through comprehensive cooperation and the participation of all stakeholders can a lasting and fair agreement be achieved.
