Ahmad Rastineh: Iran Deems the U.S. Unworthy of Direct Negotiations

Tehran – Ahmad Rastineh, spokesperson for the Cultural Commission of Iran's Parliament, has stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not consider the United States worthy of direct negotiations.

Weezharoz-In an interview with the news outlet Rouydad24, Rastineh emphasized that while Iran remains open to indirect talks to safeguard its interests, it refrains from direct engagement with the U.S. He also dismissed claims suggesting that Iran is being compelled into negotiations, labeling such assertions as misleading.

Rastineh’s remarks come amid ongoing indirect discussions between Iran and the United States, facilitated by Oman and held in Rome.

These talks focus on Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions.

Iran maintains that its nuclear activities are peaceful and align with international agreements, asserting its right to utilize nuclear energy for civilian purposes.

The spokesperson highlighted that Iran’s positions regarding the removal of unlawful sanctions and nuclear issues are clear and have been communicated during previous negotiations.

He expressed concerns over inconsistent statements from U.S. officials in recent days, urging the American side to clarify its intentions and demonstrate seriousness in the negotiations.

Rastineh further noted that repeating past approaches would be unproductive.

He stressed that progress is achievable only if the U.S. adopts a realistic and constructive stance, free from the influence of hardline factions, including the Israeli regime, and refrains from making unreasonable demands that contravene established international norms.

These developments occur as both nations navigate complex regional dynamics, with Iran seeking the lifting of economic sanctions and the preservation of its nuclear rights.
