Weezha Roz-Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of Afghanistan, met with Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, during his official visit to Qatar.
This meeting took place within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations and exploring economic cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of Afghanistan, the meeting discussed important topics, including bilateral relations, economic issues of Afghanistan and Qatar, and investment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
These discussions reflect the willingness of both sides to expand economic and trade cooperation under current circumstances.
This meeting can be seen as a significant step toward securing Qatar’s economic support for Afghanistan.
Experts say that Qatar, as a key regional player, has a notable role in supporting Afghanistan’s stability and economic development.
Among the objectives of this meeting are the following:
1.Strengthening Economic Relations: Exploring ways to increase trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
2.Supporting the Private Sector:Creating new opportunities for Qatari private sector investment in Afghanistan.
3.Addressing Economic Challenges: Discussing joint solutions to tackle Afghanistan’s economic challenges, including job creation and infrastructure improvement.
So far, the Qatari government has not issued a statement regarding the details of this meeting.
This silence may indicate Qatar’s cautious approach toward Afghanistan, especially given the multiple political and economic challenges Afghanistan is facing.
However, this meeting could pave the way for further dialogue and practical cooperation in the future.
Qatar, as one of the influential countries in the Gulf region, has played a significant role in diplomacy and humanitarian aid in Afghanistan.
In the past, Qatar has been active in areas such as political mediation and support for infrastructure projects in Afghanistan.
The recent meeting could be seen as an opportunity to revive these collaborations on a broader scale.
