Kabul-In a continuation of steadily expanding ties between Afghanistan and the Republic of Turkey, Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met today with the Turkish Ambassador to Kabul, Mr. Cenk Ünal.

weezharoz-During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on recent developments, bilateral relations, and regional issues.
Minister Muttaqi praised Turkey’s humanitarian assistance and described the bilateral ties as growing and strengthening.
Ambassador Ünal, in turn, referred to the relationship as “constructive and positive” and elaborated on Turkey’s ongoing cooperation in various sectors across Afghanistan.
Since the return of the Islamic Emirate to power in August 2021, Turkey has remained one of the few regional countries to maintain diplomatic engagement with Kabul.
It has provided support in humanitarian aid, education, reconstruction, and religious affairs.
With longstanding historical ties, Turkey has sought to maintain communication with the current Afghan administration, aiming to contribute to regional stability and humanitarian efforts.
While the two nations’ ties have faced challenges including the lack of international recognition of the Islamic Emirate diplomatic and humanitarian channels between Ankara and Kabul have remained open and functional.
Today’s meeting signals a shared interest from both sides in furthering cooperation amid a complex regional and international environment.
