Afghanistan and China Reaffirm Commitment to Expand Political and Economic Ties in Kabul Meeting

Kabul– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan announced that Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Mr. Yue Xiaoyong, Special Envoy of the People’s Republic of China for Afghan Affairs, during his visit to Kabul.

Weezharoz-In the meeting, both sides discussed recent developments in bilateral relations, including Afghanistan’s participation in the Trans-Himalaya Forum, high-level diplomatic exchanges, the appointment of Afghanistan’s ambassador to Beijing, and ongoing Chinese investment projects in the country.

Minister Muttaqi described the acceptance of the Afghan ambassador in Beijing as a significant diplomatic step and thanked China for its positive stance in international platforms.

He also stressed the importance of launching the Mes Aynak copper project and expressed readiness for institutional cooperation.

Additionally, he called for enhanced efforts to increase Afghan exports to China.

China’s special envoy reiterated his country’s respect for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and affirmed non-interference in its internal affairs.

He noted that China has waived import tariffs on most Afghan goods to encourage bilateral trade.

Both sides emphasized deepening political ties, expanding economic cooperation, and promoting mutual interests.

This meeting underscores the shared commitment of Afghanistan and China to strengthening their strategic partnership across multiple sectors.
