Afghan and Pakistani Officials Meet on Sidelines of Iran Expo 2025 to Boost Agricultural and Trade Cooperation
Tehran-On the sidelines of the Iran Expo 2025 the International Exhibition of the Export Capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran held in Tehran with the participation of over 2,500 traders from 100 countries, Mawlawi Sadr Azam Usmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of Afghanistan, met with the president and vice president of the Khyber Chamber of Commerce and a group of Pakistani businessmen.

Weezharoz-During the meeting, both sides emphasized strengthening trade ties, developing industrial agriculture, investing in agricultural products, and supporting the private sector.
The Pakistani traders noted that approximately 80% of trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan consists of agricultural and livestock products.
They welcomed the reduction in corruption at border ports and called for immediate resolution of remaining challenges as well as the establishment of joint border markets.
The Afghan Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of separating politics from economic matters, warning that any rift between the two countries would result in mutual economic losses.
He urged Pakistani businessmen to provide constructive advice to their government in order to strengthen economic relations.
Citing the difference in growing seasons between the two countries, Usmani added that Afghanistan and Pakistan could serve as complementary markets for each other’s agricultural products.
This meeting comes as Afghanistan was named one of Iran’s main target export markets during Iran Expo 2025.
Exhibition organizers welcomed the strong presence of Afghan trade delegations at the international event and underlined the importance of expanding economic relations with neighboring countries.
Iran Expo 2025, held from April 28 to May 3 at the Tehran International Permanent Fairground, served as a platform to showcase Iran’s export capabilities and foster regional economic cooperation.
