Special Representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Meets with Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister

Weezha Roz-Kabul– Tariq Bakheet, the Special Representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Afghanistan, along with his accompanying delegation, held a meeting with Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a range of issues, including security, education, counter-narcotics efforts, economic development, humanitarian and developmental aid, and strengthening the representation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan within the OIC.

The Afghan Foreign Minister highlighted the achievements and efforts of the Islamic Emirate in areas such as security, economic stability, education, counter-narcotics, and fostering positive engagement with regional and global partners.

He emphasized that the ground realities in Afghanistan starkly contrast with the narratives often portrayed by foreign media.

Muttaqi expressed hope that international institutions would directly observe factual realities rather than relying on media portrayals.

He added, “Changing the perceptions of Afghanistan formed over four decades of war is only possible by witnessing the realities firsthand.”

Tariq Bakheet, the OIC Special Representative, responded: “Our presence here signifies our intent to view realities through our own lens, not through the perspectives of others.

While we acknowledge diverse viewpoints, our decisions will ultimately be made independently, based on facts.”

Bakheet reaffirmed that the OIC has maintained a realistic and fact-based approach in its engagement with Afghanistan since the beginning.

He also announced that the organization will continue its support for Afghanistan through multiple channels.
