Extension of Economic Corridor Cooperation Agreement Signed Between Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China

Weezha Roz– During the visit of Moulavi Mohammad Ishaq Sahebzada, Deputy Minister of Public Works of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, to Uzbekistan, a cooperation agreement for the economic rail corridor between Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China was extended for another year.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshanas, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works of Afghanistan, told Weezha Roz that in 2024, a total of 4,200 containers were transported via the rail corridor between Afghanistan and China, and this agreement has been renewed for further rail cooperation in 2025.
He explained that this corridor, which passes through China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan and connects to the Hairatan-Mazar-e-Sharif railway line in Afghanistan, was established in 2022 by the four countries.
With the extension of this agreement, it is expected that the volume of rail transport through this route will significantly increase.
