Armed Attack on Rangers Office in Karachi; Ongoing Clashes – Jamaat-ul-Ahrar Claims Responsibility

Pakistani officials announced that on Saturday evening, at approximately 8:10 PM local time, unidentified armed men attacked the Rangers Karachi Transport Company (KTC) office in the Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi.

According to initial reports, the attackers targeted the entrance gate with an explosion, after which 3 to 4 of them managed to enter the office premises.

In response to the incident, Pakistani security forces were immediately deployed to the location and completely cordoned off the area.

Local sources reported that firing and exchanges between the attackers and security forces were still ongoing (as of the time of this report).

Additional reinforcements have been called to the area, and a clearance operation is underway.

Official sources have confirmed that a number of the assailants have been killed, but exact figures regarding civilian or security force casualties have not yet been released.

Received footage shows that the wounded have been transferred to hospitals in Karachi.

The armed group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (considered a faction of the Pakistani Taliban) has claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.

The operations command has announced that clearance and search operations for potential remaining assailants will continue until the threat is fully neutralized, and the area remains sealed off.
