Moderately Strong Earthquake Shakes Kabul and Several Provinces of the Country
Shazia Kalantarzadeh – Today, Saturday (6 Saratan 1405), at approximately 6:04 PM local time, an earthquake struck Kabul and parts of the country. According to information from reputable international institutions, this earthquake registered a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located in the Jurm district of Badakhshan province, at a depth of 208 kilometers.

Hafiz Mohammad Yousuf Hammad, spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority, announced in an audio message that the leadership of the authority has tasked the provincial disaster management directorates with assessing the extent of potential casualties and damages from this event, in coordination with local officials, and to submit preliminary reports to the central office.
It was further emphasized that, so far, no official reports of human casualties or financial losses resulting from this earthquake have been received by the National Disaster Management Authority.
Meanwhile, Adeeba Hassanzada, a resident of Balkh province (Mazar-e-Sharif city), said: “The earthquake this evening was strong, and its intensity was felt.
Because it was so intense, everyone was panicked.”
Nangarhar, Laghman, Balkh, Kunduz, and other provinces were not exempt from this earthquake.
On the other hand, based on accounts from local sources, the earthquake was also felt in parts of Pakistan.
Sharifullah Rahimi, an Afghan migrant residing in Pakistan, told a weezharoz correspondent: “An earthquake occurred in Attock, Pakistan, but it was mild.”
The National Disaster Management Authority has announced that it remains in continuous communication with provincial directorates and the authority’s volunteer teams across the country, and further information will be announced subsequently.
