40 Recovered Mental Health Patients Returned to Families After Treatment
Omid ahmad ahmadi- The Kabul Mental Health Care and Treatment Center, affiliated with the Health Directorate of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), today returned 40 recovered mental health patients to their families after completing their treatment.

The group included 28 men and 12 women who had regained the ability to resume normal life.
A ceremony was held on this occasion at the center, attended by Sheikh-ul-Hadith Shahabuddin Dilawar, President of the Afghan Red Crescent Society;
Hafiz Azizurrahman, Deputy President; several central office directors; and family members of the recovered patients.
Sheikh-ul-Hadith Shahabuddin Dilawar, President of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, described the treatment and reintegration of mental health patients as an important and valuable step for society. He stated:
“The Afghan Red Crescent Society, based on humanitarian and Islamic values, strives to provide effective and sustainable services to various needy segments of society.”
The ARCS President expressed his happiness that a number of compatriots are returning to their families after completing treatment and expressed hope that with the cooperation of families and the community, they would successfully continue their normal lives.
Hafiz Azizurrahman, Deputy President of ARCS, said in his remarks that treating mental health patients is not merely a health service but also a significant humanitarian and social responsibility.
He emphasized that the organization would further strengthen its efforts in caring for, treating, and reintegrating mental health patients and would take practical steps to improve these services.
Dr. Abdullah Irfan, Director of Health at ARCS, stated that specialist doctors and health staff at these centers work professionally and continuously to treat patients.
He added: “Timely diagnosis and early treatment of mental illnesses play a crucial role in the complete recovery of patients, and families must fulfill their responsibility in supporting and caring for these patients properly.”
Sheikh-ul-Hadith Ahmad Noor Hanif, Director of Dawat and Irshad (Religious Guidance) at ARCS, highlighted the importance of spiritual, moral, and ethical nurturing alongside medical treatment.
He noted that Islam considers caring for, serving, and supporting patients as a great humanitarian and Islamic responsibility.
He urged families of these patients to treat the recovered individuals with love, patience, and cooperation so they could confidently resume their normal lives.
At the end of the ceremony, during the discharge, each recovered patient received 5,000 Afghanis in cash, clothing, sandals, and several other essential items to help meet their basic living needs.
It is noteworthy that the Afghan Red Crescent Society operates mental health care and treatment centers in six zones of the country: Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Balkh, and Kunduz, where nearly 1,500 mental health patients are currently under treatment.
Additionally, more than 1,500 other mental health patients receive health services at their homes.
According to provided statistics, over the past year, a total of 1,030 patients were discharged after completing treatment from these centers, of whom 618 were men and 412 were women.
