New Directive in Khost: Doctors Banned from Writing Illegible Prescriptions
Khost – Musstaghfir Gurbaz, spokesperson for the Khost governor, announced that the province’s Committee for Implementation of the Law on Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has decided to prohibit doctors from issuing illegible or cryptic prescriptions for patients.

Weezharoz – The decision was made during the committee’s weekly meeting attended by the deputy governor, officials from various Islamic Emirate departments, and the provincial head of public health.
The meeting emphasized that unclear prescriptions not only confuse patients but also create opportunities for misuse by certain pharmacists.
According to the decision, the committee will henceforth oversee the operations of health centers to prevent illegal and unethical practices, particularly the writing of unclear prescriptions.
Citing Article 18 of the Law on Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, doctors are now legally obliged to issue prescriptions that are clear, understandable to patients, and in accordance with medical regulations.
Officials noted that enforcement of this order will be a top priority in future inspections.
The initiative has been welcomed by some health service organizations as a step toward greater transparency and public trust in Afghanistan’s healthcare system.
