Trump’s Sharp Rebuke of The New York Times and Obama: “Even My Peace Efforts Displease Them!”

Washington, D.C. — On April 26, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express frustration over media coverage of a potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. He specifically targeted The New York Times and its journalist Peter Baker, accusing them of bias and undermining his diplomatic efforts.

Weezharoz-In his post, Trump asserted that regardless of the quality of any peace deal he might broker, The New York Times would portray it negatively.

He described Peter Baker as a “very biased and untalented writer,” alleging that Baker, under editorial pressure, advocated for Ukraine to reclaim territories such as Crimea, which Trump deemed “ridiculous requests.”

Trump further criticized former President Barack Obama, accusing him of allowing Russia to annex Crimea without resistance during his tenure.

He contrasted this with his own administration’s actions, claiming that while Obama provided Ukraine with non-lethal aid like “sheets,” he supplied them with Javelin anti-tank missiles.

This claim has been a recurring point in Trump’s rhetoric, emphasizing his administration’s provision of lethal aid to Ukraine, unlike the Obama administration’s approach.

Emphasizing his non-involvement in initiating the Ukraine conflict, Trump labeled it as “Sleepy Joe Biden’s War,” suggesting that the war would not have occurred under his leadership.

He expressed his intent to resolve the “mess” inherited from the Obama and Biden administrations.

Concluding his message, Trump condemned recent Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian civilian areas, questioning President Vladimir Putin’s commitment to ending the war.

He proposed that alternative strategies, such as banking or secondary sanctions, might be necessary to address the situation effectively.

This statement follows Trump’s recent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Pope Francis’s funeral, marking their first interaction since a contentious meeting in February.
