Afghan Interior Minister Emphasizes Police’s Role as Public Servants
Kabul– In an official meeting in Kabul, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, Acting Minister of Interior Affairs, stressed the need for police forces to serve the people and urged all ministry personnel to prioritize the well-being and security of citizens in their missions.

Weezharoz-Haqqani highlighted that police officers must be true servants of the people, carrying out their duties effectively through positive engagement and full coordination with the public.
He emphasized the importance of a constructive relationship between police and citizens and called for stronger public trust.
He also expressed appreciation to the security forces for their tireless efforts in maintaining peace during the recent Eid holidays and prayed for their continued success in future missions.
Following his remarks, deputy ministers and senior directors of the Ministry of Interior discussed key issues, including:
1. Reviewing ongoing security challenges and strategies to enhance public order.
2. Streamlining public service delivery and ensuring operational transparency.
3. Promoting interdepartmental cooperation to resolve security and social issues.
The minister’s emphasis on the police’s role as public servants reflects the Ministry’s broader effort to improve the image of the security forces in the public eye.
Implementing these goals will require structural reforms within the administrative and security systems.
Restoring public trust in the police also depends on reducing excessive force and increasing accountability.
Analysts believe the minister’s statements are a step toward meaningful security reforms, but stress the need for tangible action.
Meanwhile, citizens hope that these policies will lead to better police community interactions and a reduction in unjustified use of force.
